La vie d'une Rose

In 1922, known then as Alexandre Batiste, a young architectural prodigy, he arrived in Egypt to join Howard Carter's expedition in the search for King Tutankhamun's tomb, with the purpose of assisting in structurally mapping the tomb once it was found. On the cusp of giving up, the team finally found the location in November and began excavating, but it wasn't until February of 1923 when they were able to unseal the door to the tomb. During a rare evening visit to the site, there was a cave-in separating Alexandre from the rest of the excavation team. Alexandre was sealed in an air-tight chamber, unbeknownst to him in that moment, with Aurélie Céleste Fortescue. Aurélie approached him, talking with him through the night as the torch he carried burned out, and the oxygen thinned and finally dissipated. As he drew his last breath, she embraced him. Alexandre later discovered that Aurélie had noticed him in the area weeks before, observing his architectural skills through his evening meetings, conversations and drawings, and still feeling the loss of her former mentor and unable to bear losing another great artistic talent, had already planned on embracing him, though the moment came sooner than anticipated. In 1924, Alexandre traveled back to France with his sire and grandsire, Remy Fortescue, where he was introduced to the art scene and joie d vivre of Paris, and enrolled in special evening studies at La Sorbonne to deepen his already substantial expertise in architecture. The three stayed with in Paris for a few years, but left in 1927 to travel to Italy then Spain, before anyone noticed they weren't aging. In early 1928, they arrived in Seville, Spain, where Aurélie allowed Alexandre to stay, to study the architecture of renown architect Aníbal Gonzalez, who was preparing magnificent buildings in the center of Seville, for the great Ibero-American Expo.
