At A Glance:

Claire has long since served as a soldier and a mercenary, fighting in wars across France and England after she was embraced, though never serving more as a minor commander. Historically she's served on the side of the catholics, though it's doubtful she maintains any sort of belief. She's enjoyed the thrill of battle and the challenge of finding a delicate balance between the taste of blood lust and bite of the beast. However, after she joined the Camarilla, Claire largely turned away from martial conflict in favor of the political arena, though her praxis in Bloomington is a marked change for her, as it's the first time she's openly claimed power in Kindred Society.

She's tall, is always well dressed, and almost always wears her hair up. She also wears a necklace bearing the letter "L", and has blood red eyes (Eerie presence). She's fast, preferring to rely on her dexterity rather than strength, is intelligent and calculating, and polite, though her every word bears an icy edge.

Information Known by Kindred Society

The information below is reasonably available to characters of the Masquerade Camarilla/Anarch/Independents continuity. Some subsections are marked as available knowledge only for certain groups of characters, and thus would not be known by every character.

Known by Kindred Society

Claire is a well respected Elder of both Clan Ventrue and the Camarilla. She was a member of the Sabbat (Notorious, Tainted Embrace) from 1493 until 1598, when she joined the Camarilla. In the centuries following, she worked to build up her status in the Camarilla, claiming her rightful place as an Elder. She's spent significant time in France, as well as the new world, and moves around about every 2 decades, in search of better opportunities. However, she always returns to France for one of those periods at least once a century, if not more. Claire embraced a single childe in the 1980s, Thomas Dupont, who has since served as her face to the mortal world. She's recently returned from France, settling in the Midwest and claiming praxis over the city of Bloomington, Indiana and working with Walter the Grey to secure Camarilla power and stability in the region.

Known by the Clan Ventrue

After joining the Camarilla in 1598, Claire was under the supervision and mentorship of Benedict Sebastien Cross, joining House Cross at the turn of the 20th Century. She's demonstrated her loyalty to Clan Ventrue on many occassions. With her praxis over Bloomington, she's largely refrained from commenting on the situation of the Clan in the Lakes-Mississippi-Heartland region, simply saying that she looks forward to the return of Ventrue power in the region, and that such is inevitable.

((This information is, for the most part, knowable by kindred, as long as it falls in line with their in character history, though I reserve the right to approve or deny any tie, regardless of possible historical contact.))

1191- Born in Épernay, Champagne, France 1217- Embraced by Lena Simon, after serving as a minor commander for Blanche of Navarre during the War of Succession of Champagne. Reims, France.

Claire remained largely an autark until after the Hundred Years War, though her sire, Lena, had dealings through Clan Ventrue.

1337 to 1453- The Hundred Years war. Claire fought in defense of France, along side her sire.

1455 to 1487- The War of the Roses in England. Spurred on by the Hundred Years War, Claire fought on the side of the Yorkists, most notably manipulating the then-mortal William Wells, under the direction of her sire, though Lena's motivations for such actions were unclear. However, after William's embrace in 1459, they found themselves begrudgingly on the same side during the Anarch Revolution.

1493- After the signing of the Treaty of Thorns, Claire and her sire joined the Sabbat in outrage, fighting across France against the Camarilla, superficially supporting the catholics during the French Wars of Religion.

1598- Claire joined the Camarilla, though she leaves the circumstances purposefully clouded, though it's clear that her pack met it's end at nearly the same time. She was acknowledged by a minor Prince in the region, spending the next few centuries building herself up in the eyes of the Camarilla, under the watchful eye of Benedict Sebastien Cross.

She spent the next few centuries in France and the New World, never staying on one place for more than 2 decades or so, going where-ever the best opportunities presented themselves. Though she occassionally helped hunt down Sabbat packs, she largely resigned from martial conflict in favor of political, though even once she gained Elder status, she rarely claimed positions openly. Some decades, her presence in Camarilla bordered almost on autarkis, not to mention that of the mortal world. Notably, she was involved in the Industrial Revolution in France, working with Claire to shut down rivals exploiting child labor, and again with Claire during World War 2, facilitating the escape of children to safer areas, especially Jewish children.

1980s- Spent time in Miami, largely distant from the court with Jared Goodman as her primary liason between herself and the local court, and embraced her Childe, Thomas Dupont around the same time.

In the early 1990s, Claire returned to France, spending time in her native region of Champagne and occassionally making visits to the Parisian court as Thomas served as her agent abroad, doing her work while she took time to relax and recharge as she considered her next move and observed the world for opportunities to poach. She recently moved to the Midwest, in Bloomington Indiana, where she's taken Praxis, intending to build her presence in the Lakes-Mississippi-Heartland region, for her clan and the Camarilla, but especially for her own ends.

Quotes by Claire Dupont:

Quotes about Claire Dupont:

  • "I can't figure her out. I'm the only Anarch left in Bloomington, a Caitiff, no less, and she still let me keep my domain. I don't know why she did that, but I think she may be far more dangerous than her calm demeanor indicates." -Jack "Dauntless" Kiel
  • "I hear others praise Claire Dupont for her business acumen or her political cunning, but it has always been her compassion I have treasured the most. Plus, she has a pretty name." - Claire the Nosferatu
  • "Though Claire's lineage is somewhat ignominious, she has proven, through four centuries of exemplary service, that she is deserving of the clemency which was extended to her, and opportunity to prove herself to Clan and Sect. I do not make this claim lightly, as I would have just as easily reclaimed her Blood for even the slightest of infractions. I could not ask for a better adopted daughter than Claire." -Benedict Sebastien Cross
