"Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me." -George Orwell, 1984
Elder and Agent of the Thought Police. Suriel has been known to be a vigilant enforcer of the Traditions and Courtesies of the Camarilla. During a conflict with the Sabbat, Suriel lost an eye to a vicissitude user. At Kindred gatherings he wears the wound as a badge of honor though he covers it when not at a gathering. A Whisper of Life clings to this Elder though an Arcane cloud lingers in his wake. He is often forgotten by those he does not know well, and paper trails regarding him simply disappear into the ether. Inside the Camarilla it is known that Suriel is a Knight of the Moon and that he sheltered and re-educated some of the Malkavians who struggled with Right Thought after Dementation returned to many within the Clan.

“Being in a minority, even in a minority of one, did not make you mad. There was truth and there was untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad.”- George Orwell, 1984

Was one of many who came at the sounds of assault, but was too late to save his Sire. Points out hidden attackers and their exit routes to Sheriff DiPadua, uses Auspex and Dominate against captured attackers to gain details of the attack's plan and the Toreador Justicar's betrayal. He never once shows emotion. Becomes a fanatical supporter of the Camarilla, and scouts either out of body or for the retaliations against the Sabbat. Listens to The Venetian speaking afterward to the clan, logically & coldly explaining that they must dedicate themselves to protecting the Tower. Is this not where our skills can best be of use? Who can know the twisted minds who would do the Tower harm if not the Children of the Moon? He becomes one of the initial members of the Thought Police.
(1725) Assists in preparing Venice to host the Conclave. Had attempted to investigate the assassination of the Ventrue Justicar, but is blocked. Unlike others, he argues against paranoia. If the Ventrue Justicar was a traitor, the act was just.
(1738) Travels to Vienna for Conclave, active in arguing to allow the Tremere to regulate blood magic within the Tower. It will aid in reducing infiltration by independents and sabbat.
(1751) Travels to Conclave in London, approving of the rise in power of the Harpies. They strengthen the Masquerade, and add additional balances against the power of Princes who might endanger the Tower.

(1970) Called in to consult on the behavior of Susanna by Dr. Crowe, moves her to the Danvers Mental Hospital under the care of Elder Biltmore in 1973.
(1972) Attends Conclave in Vienna. Does not take a side in the discussions around the dissolution of the Promise. Is openly suspicious of the Giovanni, but supports the wisdom of the Traditions and Courtesies.

(1985) With the rise of rebellious youth in America, Suriel suggest that Susanna attempt to infiltrate street culture.
(1988) Vienna, Austria: Attends Conclave for the argument against Noddist Lore. Vocally disagrees with his broodmate, The Venetian. Understanding Heresy is the first step to succumbing to it. Knowledge of the Book of Nod is not required to root out its seditious and heretical beliefs. Compliance to the Traditions and the Courtesies are all that is required. Right Thought leads to Right Words. Right Words lead to Right Action. Right Action leads to Right Thought.
(1990) Meets with Heinrich shortly before his disappearance.
(1993) Returns to Venice to attend Conclave. Sees the Kementiri revelation and the creation of the Red List. He argues for the inclusion of only the sect's true enemies. Remembers keenly those elders who attempted to use the Red List as nothing but a way to settle petty rivalries.
(1996) Crosses paths with a coterie of Infernalist Hunters. They begin a mutually beneficial relationship that lasts to this day.

(2014) The Venetian is appointed the Minister of Truth by the Malkavian Clan Head in order to coordinate Thought Police activities in the United States.
(2015) Suriel finds Susanna in Puerto Rico after making a decision to relocate on her own. This anomaly in behavior is interesting to the Elder and so he maintains contact for a longer period of time. It is possible that Right Thoughts have led to Right Words, that Right Words have led to Right Action, and that Right Action is leading to Right Thoughts. Susanna is observed and given guidance when asked, but is largely on her own.
(2015) Assigned to the domain of Prince Constance Fournier of Boston by the Thought Police. A rise in tensions between Prince Constance Fournier and Prince Biltmore has been noted along with an influx of Malkavians and Anarchs. "Mind your thoughts childe." - Elder Suriel
"Elder Suriel, I know this Kindred. He onced deigned to look deep into my abyss in search of "truth". It turns out that for sometime afterwards he had a strong aversion to mirrors and light. I hope that he found what he was looking, as the price he paid was more than he had anticipated." - Greyson Lovecraft
"Does he like you? Are you sure? Don't believe him when he smiles. I have known that sweet smile, and it is a lie, he *knows* you and it definitely will hurt for more than a minute." - Bridgette Merrick
"He is as loyal as he is clever. His eyes are ever watchful and through them we have routed much heresy." - Clarence Charles Merrick
"My brother's wisdom is amazing company, and his loyalty is without question. I am continuously honored by his presence, and the history we've shared that has built the Ivory Tower." - Heinrich
"He earned my respect when he set me straight with a firm hand, without needing to shove his whole boot down my throat. I admire an authoritarian leader more than any other type." - Kasserine Powell
"He knows what you are thinking, he knows when you're a fake, he knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake!" - Toby Dior
"We share a certain stylistic kinship. He has my respect." - Prince Serafin

"If he weren't an elder of the Camarilla, I'd almost want to call him friend." - Lea Winters
"One of the sharper minds I've run across among my clan, on the tower side at least. And don't ever make the mistake that only having one eye prevents this Elder from seeing things very, very clearly. Not a bad sort, I suppose, if you can put aside the Tower fanaticism for a bit. Of course, were I still breathing I'd not hold it on that score." - Malcolm Donovan
"Safe." - Susanna
It is believed that Suriel's most prized possession is an Illuminated Bible.
Despite his cold exterior, it is rumored that Suriel has taken kindred lovers.
Suriel is often seen carrying a well-read copy of 1984 by George Orwell. Apparently there is some debate surrounding the irony of such.
Under the calm exterior rages a mind riddled with madness.
