Look for a cocky young Malkavian in a suit jacket, side-slung laptop, impudent T-shirt and his ever-present HUD goggles, and you will have found the Boston Anarch known as Malcolm Donovan. Before he crossed to this side of the grave, Malcolm was known as both an accomplished local author and - among certain circles - as a hacker and computer crook of formidable skill.
For what reason his sire Devon Carruthers decided to embrace him may never be known. What is known is that on his first night in public society he came before Prince Constance Fournier and was advised that he needed to make amends for being so long in her city without presenting himself. Somehow the amends were made and he has remained welcome in the city... for the time being at least. Previously unknown factors about Malcolm's past are beginning to surface..he has more family out in the World than he realized.
Malcolm has ties & contacts across the country and given time can uncover a surprising amount of information. Some of his connections may even be international..
He once mouthed off to the First Among Equals and has lived to tell the tale. Recent information has surfaced indicating this individual may have been someone else entirely...
When hearing that his unlife might have been cut short, Constance Fournier of Boston said "he is too useful for me to allow that to happen". Exactly how he has been useful is less widely known.
The Anarch was involved in helping the San Marcos Anarchs take down the Sabbat terrorist known as the Black Knight, and another mixed band of Anarchs and Campires take down a Sabbat holding in Baltimore - with no losses on their part. Malcolm himself in the latter sortie neutralized a Sabbat Brujah that was going after a downed ally - ask him how.
Malcolm has a number of connections to organized crime, which for an author and Internet activist is perhaps surprising.
He has taken responsibility for serving the Anarchs of Boston, Massachusetts (now having established a Barony in Lowell) as Architect - a position placing him in charge of the security of the Domain's borders. The troubles allegedly initiated by Baron Juan of Lawrence made this slightly more challenging... but Donovan did not take the seat because he thought it would be an easy ride. And their numbers are growing, to the trepidation of some Elders of the city of Boston....and the satisfaction of some others.
Malcolm's writing has recently taken off, and he may have contracts for more work. Word is spreading about his essays... apparently, snark sells, who knew?
Before Lowell was reclaimed , the Boston Anarchs had been offered possession of the Domain of Lawrence, albeit under the supervision of an Independent or Camarilla Jarl. Now under the watchful eye of an independent Elder, Lawrence had barely enough to feed any currently residing there, let alone the Anarchs of Boston were they to relocate. But at least parts of Lawrence haven't burned to the ground... as of yet. Following the recent chaos in Boston, the domain of Lowell (recently the site of a pitched battle against a powerful denizen of the nether realms - and a successful one) may be the safest place for the Movement for the time being. The harrowing is over, the shadows are gone... but the price was high. And as always in this World Of Darkness, safety can be as fleeting a dream as freedom.
Malcolm's work has gained him a small following among the Toreador of Boston and perhaps beyond. His first novel entitled Bad Nights on Broadway, a crime story set in South Boston, has recently been released. Word is spreading of a techno album just released entitled "Burning Trash Pandas" by the breakout group "omens of Now.". This is a collaborative work with writing credit being given to one Chris Clark and Malcolm driving with his musical chops. It's whispered that he is filling out the roster with Kindred from other clans and cities, but who these kindred are remains a mystery - as is the unknown party backing him in Boston. Another mystery, of course, is the origin of the name.
Two Malkavian ancillae have recently approached Malcolm about a collective of seers and prophets working to gain insight on the approaching Gehenna. They hope by sharing their visions and experience they may gain useful knowledge as to how to forestall the destruction promised by the Red Star.. or, failing that, at least survive it. But this is likely just a rumor...

"Have you ever heard of a Harpy appointing a Baron? Ask him sometime about his rise to power, and make sure you check with me for the real story." -Toby Dior (paraphrased)
- "To be fair to the esteemed and talented Mr Dior, he did point at me with the equivalent of "tag, you're it" as I was the only one who spoke up at the gathering where both of us were in attendance. But his blessing would have meant zip if my people did not think I could do the job, and so far they have had my back, as I have theirs. Also, I couldn't claim to be a Baron, as I hold no domain of my own.. I'd just led my crew to the best of my capacity and whatever comes down the road we'll meet head-on. We were Boston Bedlam, we are now the Barony of Lowell and remain Anarch to the core. That's the story, and if you hear otherwise from Toby Dior, he and I must agree to disagree." - Malcolm Donovan
"Oh, Mal. That fella's a kindred spirit--even if we aren't on the same side of the fence. He's a whisper in my ear when life has got me all balled up, and a laugh when things are hitting on all eight. Maybe it isn't poetic, but he's swell--he just gets me the way a mirror does, you know?" - Wohl

Malcolm Donovan has a nasty habit of presumption. To begin with, he presumes that I care about the Boston Bedlam beyond his betters. For another, he presumes to know me beyond the decidedly scant conversation I had with him and the Anarchs of Boston. And for the last, he presumes to know my opinion of the Anarchs. Be mindful what you say to him, for he will stalk you and presume himself your equal. - Toby Dior, Master Harpy of New York
- Master Harpy Dior and myself have some differences of opinion. It may be true that some conclusions were drawn based on insufficient information, and that they don't reflect his opinion of my sect as a whole. That error is mine. One error of his is presuming I was stalking him for any reason. That presumes the behavior of either a rabid fan or paparazzo or someone following another party with the intent to harm. As to the former, Master Dior writes well, but about a topic that has been explored for a number of years. And regarding the latter, I have never set foot in New York nor have I conducted any electronic surveillance or deliberate harassment of the Harpy in question. There are those who reside in or pass through New York with whom I either have friendship or have done business, and I hear what they have to say. And to the point of presuming myself Toby Dior's equal, not my gravest of concerns. Toby Dior and I will always have our differences. But I must respect his long list of his accomplishments, and anyone who underestimates this Master Harpy is likely in for a rude, rude shock. I plan on not being that individual again. - Malcolm Donovan
"Malcolm has all of the passion and bravado that I would hope for from a member of the Movement. He keeps the Camarilla on their toes, and it makes him the perfect face for us in Boston." -Lea Winters
"In my line of work I am often required to work with whomever is necessary to complete my task. Malcolm is one of the most capable hackers I have ever worked with; his hygiene leaves something to be desired." -Greyson Lovecraft
"Have you been dominated into a fascination with me? - Malcolm to Seer Ambrosia Paine

"I will read a statement. "Due to the activities of Malcolm Donovan I am unfortuantly not allowed to form an opinion on him due to tower bullshit...," what my regnant is trying to say is all hail the Ivory Tower and down with Anarchs. Hold on, "No I don't mean All Hail the Ivory Tower and Down with Anarachs. I literally was told by an Elder I wasn't allowed to comment on Anarchs because that would be a bad thing. Thus is why I say it was tower bullshit," the ghoul sighs, "What my regnant means is he respects the elders of the tower and is willing to listen to..."
